V. Marianne
Produced, written, and performed by Steven Kou
Dear Marianne, I didn't mean to call your name
From the first scene I cannot believe you lay your eyes on me
Am I familiar? If you fell into my arms one day
You left me waiting eternally, summer into winter, fall
And even if you're with another man
Just know that I left a place for you
I'm doing the best I can
No armor, I still fight for you (Yeah)
And even if you couldn't understand
I leave the door open for you
Just know that I wished you the best
Place my right hand, nothing before you
Dear Marianne, try to keep it all contained
It's a miracle, I couldn't believe you said it last summer
And an assailant, the scar you put beside my mind
A living deception, whether in vain, you smile for the camera
notes:
who is marianne? this was the most complex to produce. it came from a midwest emo loop i made back in year 2022. reproduced it in the year 2025. sat down for a solid two hours on the lyrics, on a chair. many midwest emo bands from japan and america were realized into the making of this song. it sounds the most twinkly out of the whole tracklist. this song is the hardest to play on the guitar. i believe marianne and clara should meet. i wonder what they would talk about.
